If you’re part of the Environment Agency, you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment and tackling issues of national importance. We’re based across England, and our responsibilities span industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries and conservation.
Are you looking to take the first step into an administration role with the Environment Agency? Committed to learning new skills and gaining new experiences?
A great opportunity has arisen to join the Estates Support team as a Support Assistant. Working within this team you will provide financial administrative support to approximately 80 professional estates surveyors. You will be one of 10 team members delivering an effective and efficient service.
The role is part of the Estates Business Technical and Future Planning Team which is a national dispersed team consisting of approximately 38 staff spread across four smaller teams. With a focus on supporting the wider Estates team, continuous improvement and managing our residential portfolio, this team is essential to the successful delivery of the Estates service.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. Different role types are available and are designed to suit a range of working styles and personal circumstances. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
The Estates Support Team provides first-class administrative and financial support to four customer-facing Estates business hubs within the Environment Agency and to Defra Property Services. As a dispersed team, we support hybrid working. Developing and setting internal processes and standards, the team monitors performance to ensure consistency across the whole Estates service ensuring customer satisfaction.
Experience/skills required
Whilst relevant experience would be an advantage, it’s less important to us than your ability to demonstrate the key transferrable skills and the personal qualities that we’re looking for. As with all of our roles, on-the-job training will be provided.
The ideal candidate will be:
proactive with a constructive attitude and the ability to work independently following procedures and processes;
confident in the use of financial data and information, and be accurate, with good attention to detail;
numerically literate and confident working with Microsoft Office and other IT systems and applications, using these to analyse and interrogate data;
able to demonstrate team-working skills;
able to confidently manage their time to achieve tight or conflicting deadlines;
able to build relationships with our customers and partners, both internal and external.
