Summary

As our Halls Assistant, you will be instrumental in ensuring a strong service is provided to our students and customers, acting as the first point of contact for face to face and telephony enquiries. This will include providing help and support, working with the Halls Manager to support ongoing development of the service, maximising the benefit to Cardiff Met and the resident students. You will assist the Halls Manager and Head of Residential Accommodation in the efficient and professional operation of the service.

You will be appointed to one of two Halls of Residence sites: Plas Gwyn or Cyncoed. Each role holder will normally be based at their designated site, providing day to day support to residents and colleagues. However, you will also be expected to provide cover and cross-site support at the other location when business needs arise, ensuring a consistent and high quality service.

Additionally, you will:

Act as a communication link between all users of Residential Accommodation Services, including students, guests, contractors, Halls Management and other Cardiff Met staff.
Be involved in the delivery of pastoral care to residents and the fostering of a supportive community spirit.
Provide a high standard of service to ensure students’ expectations are consistently supported and to ensure excellence and consistency of services to students across all of the Halls of Residences.
General administrative and finance duties, including development of literature.
Assist in the preparation, formulation and delivery of presentations to students and customers.

What you’ll bring

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong listening ability, and empathy, coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience.

As our Halls Assistant, you’ll work with a variety of internal and external customers, bringing proven experience in professionally handling enquiries and effectively resolving complaints.

In addition, you’ll have a good level of administrative skills, and the ability to prepare and deliver engaging presentations. A good knowledge and experience with financial and IT systems is important, along with the ability to work independently and organise and prioritise work effectively.
