A really exciting and fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Paediatric Family Support Assistant to join the Children's Outpatients Department Team.
The Children's Outpatients Department Team supports busy clinic areas across three sites within Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. This dynamic, enthusiastic and creative individual is required to support children with all aspects of play, distraction, desensitisation to help them manage their health and medical conditions.
The successful candidate will have experience working in this field of practice and will contribute to an enhance holistic care provided by our children and young people services.
· To provide play and distraction and support for children and their families within the Paediatric Outpatient Departments as well as within the scope of other paediatric areas within CHFT.
This role will provide support for children and families in the Outpatient setting with a focus on Play, distraction techniques and desensitisation.
CHFT is an integrated Trust of 6,500+ colleagues providing hospital and community services to patients and communities across Calderdale and Kirklees. Main Tasks
· To be part of the clinical team working within the Children’s outpatient department and other paediatric settings.
· Undertake all defined duties required.
· To work without direct supervision using own initiative within the level of competency set down for this post.
· To ensure that patient privacy and dignity are respected at all times
· To support and reassure patients during clinical procedures or treatment.
· Ensure that patient care is optimised by communicating relevant information in a timely and accurate fashion.
· Promote the professional image of the Trust by maintaining at all times a neat appearance and helpful manner, paying particular attention to the need to deliver high standards of care, in accordance with the Trust’s policy quality standards and the Patient’s Charter.
· Ensure that at all times the policies and working practices of the Trust are observed particularly in relation to confidentiality.
· To attend unit and Multidisciplinary Team meetings as required.
· Ensure that all queries are attended to as soon as possible, answering the telephone efficiently, conveying any messages to the appropriate personnel.
