The Opportunity: Inspiring Linguists in Greater Manchester
This is a brilliant opening for a proactive QTS French Teacher to take on a temporary or contract role (such as a long-term sickness cover or maternity leave) in Wigan.
Schools in the Wigan borough are known for their supportive environments and commitment to broadening students' perspectives. You will be responsible for ensuring that French is taught with energy and clarity, helping students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) develop the confidence to communicate in a second language.
Your Key Responsibilities-
Dynamic Language Delivery: Plan and teach interactive French lessons that focus on the four key skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.

GCSE Support: Utilize your knowledge of exam specifications to guide Year 11 students through their final assessments, particularly in honing their oral exam performance.

Cultural Immersive: Use authentic resources-such as French media, film, and music-to make the language relevant and exciting for Wigan students.

Track Student Success: Provide clear, constructive feedback and use assessment data to identify and support students who need extra help.

Positive Presence: Maintain high standards of classroom management, fostering an inclusive environment where students feel safe to practice their speaking skills.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory, accompanied by a degree in French or a related linguistic field.

Fluency: High-level proficiency in French, with a strong grasp of grammar and phonetics.

Secondary Experience: Proven success teaching the French curriculum within the UK National Curriculum at KS3 and KS4.

Adaptability: The ability to join a new school and immediately build rapport with students and staff.

Compliance: A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to apply for one).
