Summary

Horley Infant School are looking for a committed, reliable and enthusiastic team player to join our existing team of play workers in our successful after-school club. This is a causal supply role and would be ideal for someone who may be looking for ad hoc hours subject to the operational needs of the school.
Horley Infant School has a positive local reputation whereby we live by our vision and values of “embracing and nurturing the individual” and “inspiring all to achieve”. We pride ourselves on giving a family feel to our school, even though we have nearly 270 children in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2. Our before school and after school club has an excellent reputation and, as such, we need to expand our team. In our latest Staff Wellbeing Survey, our school staff reported an 11% greater level of job satisfaction than the national benchmark. Maybe this could be your moment to join us?
We are looking for someone who:
Can create an exciting, stimulating and safe environment for pupils attending the clubs
Can work with our small team to ensure the best provision for pupils both before and after school
Can initiate and encourage play opportunities for children
Can relate well and communicate effectively at all levels with other staff members, parents and pupils
Can engage well with our children
Is able to work independently managing their own workload as well as part of a team
Is enthusiastic and motivated
Although not essential, the following would be highly desirable:
Has at least 1 years’ experience of working with children in a play-work environment would be an advantage
Has a play work qualification NVQ level 2 or above is highly desirable
Has a qualification in play work, first aid and food hygiene (training will be arranged)
We will offer:
A competitive salary on our Greensand Multi Academy Trust terms and conditions
A team of friendly and supportive staff who are all committed to the school’s continued improvement
Enrollment into a local government pension scheme
The opportunity to work with an academy trust that encourages all of its schools to keep their own unique identity, whilst enjoying excellent relationships and collaborative partnerships with the wider Greensand community
An excellent staff assistance scheme with access to a range of wellbeing and health initiatives, including complimentary counselling, physiotherapy and a 24 hour online GP service
The closing date for applications is Monday 5 January 2026 at 9am. Candidates should apply via the Greensand Multi Academy Trust's My New Term portal, accessible via the Trust website. Applications will be considered upon receipt and we reserve the right to appoint someone sooner than this if we identify a suitable candidate. You are therefore encouraged to apply for the role as soon as possible.
We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of our Trust. We strive to create a diverse and inclusive environment and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you need any specific support or require alternative formats, please contact us.
Horley Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to demonstrably share this commitment. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful candidate will be required to have an enhanced DBS check and an overseas criminal records check if you have lived or travelled outside the UK for more than 3 months in the last 10 years. Shortlisted candidates will also be subject to online check in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
