Finance Assistant – Aurora Foxes
Location: Minehead Somerset
Salary: £26,665.60 - £28,849.60
Hours: 40 Hours per week
Welcome to Aurora Foxes, a specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities, situated in the friendly seaside town of Minehead. Foxes is a very special place. Our aim is to equip our young adults with the life and hospitality skills to become work ready, life ready.
The Role As our Finance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth and accurate financial processes for Aurora Foxes and our central finance team. From managing petty cash and debit card administration to supporting purchase ledger activities and income transactions, you’ll help keep everything running seamlessly behind the scenes. You’ll also work closely with our Business Manager and wider team, providing day-to-day support and guidance where needed. No two days are the same, this is a role where attention to detail and teamwork truly matter.
What You’ll Be Doing Collaborating with the Central Finance Operations Team on purchase ledger and purchase order activities. Supporting staff to ensure purchase orders are raised correctly and goods/services are receipted appropriately. Monitoring and reconciling petty cash, issuing funds, and submitting monthly reports. Administering debit and credit cards, ensuring accurate coding and reconciliation. Managing income transactions, banking, and recording payments. Assisting with payroll during colleague absences. Providing occasional reception cover as part of our supportive admin team. Skills and QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For Level 2 in Maths and English (essential). Highly numerate with strong IT skills, including intermediate Excel. AAT qualification or Level 2/3 Bookkeeping (desirable). Previous finance assistant experience and familiarity with accounting software (desirable). Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work to deadlines and as part of a team. Hotel or hospitality experience (a bonus, but not essential).
