We are seeking an individual with a caring and flexible approach to provide support during lunch breaks. You will be required to assist with setting out tables for lunch, assist the children with eating their lunch and ensure that the lunch area is clean and tidy for the afternoon session.
You will also be required to ensure that the children are engaged in suitable activities that may involve supervising the children inside and outside of the building and supporting with personal care.
With previous experience of working with children with special educational needs and disabilities, you will have the ability to work in a team environment and be committed to achieving the best outcomes for children.
You will be able to adapt and work flexibly to support the individual needs of our pupils, for example you will be able to run and move quickly to support our pupils during their break times. This could involve getting down to floor level to play alongside them, engaging in a physical activity outdoors, in a sensory area or in the playground.
You will also support toilet routines including the changing of soiled clothing and nappies and you will be required to lift and move tables and chairs including setting up and taking down tables and stacking chairs.
Ideally you will have experience of working with or caring for children who have special educational needs and who may not be able to communicate verbally. They may have physical, sensory and medical needs. You will need to be alert and attentive at all times to support children who do not know how to keep themselves safe and who may, at times, display difficult or dangerous behaviour.
