A friendly and warm-hearted 66-year-old lady living in the Uddingston area is looking for a Female Personal Assistant to provide one-to-one support at home and out in the community. She lives with MS and has recently experienced a stroke and is seeking someone who can support her to continue living as independently, comfortably and enjoyably as possible.
This role would suit someone with a good sense of humour, a caring and patient nature, and a proactive approach to support. You will play an important role in helping her feel confident, valued and involved in daily life.
A typical day may include supporting with personal care, preparing meals, assisting with medication, and heading out for trips such as shopping, meals out, or visits to the cinema or theatre. At home, you’ll help with day-to-day tasks and create a relaxed and positive environment. She enjoys listening to music, singing, themed movie days and special outings, and would welcome someone who can encourage and share these interests.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide person-centred, one-to-one support both within the home and out in the community. Your support will include assisting with all aspects of personal care, such as getting up and out of bed, showering, dressing, catheter care and helping her settle comfortably at night. You will also support with medication and prepare nutritious meals and healthy snacks, offering assistance with eating when required.
You will help her to access the community safely and confidently, accompanying her on outings such as shopping trips, meals out, and visits to the cinema or theatre, and supporting her to take part in social and leisure activities she enjoys. Mobility support will be part of your role, including the safe use of a tracking hoist.
In addition, you will assist with everyday household tasks, including shopping, collecting prescriptions, light housework and escorting her to hospital appointments. You will be encouraged to take a proactive and creative approach, helping to plan enjoyable activities and supporting daily routines that promote independence, dignity and a good quality of life.
You must be comfortable working around birds, as there is an outdoor aviary at the property.
Essential requirements
• Previous care experience
• Full UK automatic driving licence
• Confidence driving an automatic mobility vehicle
• Good communication skills and a warm, reliable approach
Training will be provided
Hours & Contract
• Permanent position
• 18 hours per week
Typical rota (shared between 3 PAs)
• Monday – Sunday: 9:30am – 2:30pm
• Evening support: 9:30pm – 10:15pm (support with night routine and catheter care)
• Occasional weekend working
Pay
• £12.60 per hour
