Summary


We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Biomedical Scientistto join our team in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead and develop services within a modern, well-equipped laboratory.

Equipment:

The department utilises the following technologies:
• Ortho Vision analysers and Ortho Biovue cassette technology for Blood Transfusion
• Haemonetics Blood Track
• Beckman DxH900 FBC analysers
• Werfen ACL TOP 450 Coagulation analysers
• Stago STA R MAX coaglation analyser
• TOSOH G11 HPLC for Haemoglobinopathy screening
• Sebia Hydrasys Electrophoresis
About You
• HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist.
• Significant post-registration experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
• MSc, FIBMS or Equivalent qualification
• Evidence of leadership and supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and accreditation processes.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.



Key Responsibilities:
• Provide specialist expertise in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
• Act as a technical and professional lead for the department.
• Ensure smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory
• Ensure compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards and MHRA requirements.
• Ensure Quality Management system
• Support and mentor junior staff, promoting continuous professional development.
• Contribute to service improvement and innovation projects.
• Participate in the out-of-hours rota as required.
