The Governing Board and Director of Elysium Training are seeking to appoint an inspirational, values-led Head Teacher to provide strategic leadership across our growing alternative education provision.
This is a rewarding and influential opportunity for an experienced leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young adults with SEND and SEMH needs.

Elysium Training is a Specialist Provider of Alternative Education based in the heart of Leigh. We support learners with SENDprimarily those with SEMH needswho have experienced challenges in traditional educational environments.
Our vocationally focused curriculum specialises in construction pathways, alongside Functional Skills, Careers Education and Preparation for Adulthood.

About the Role
As Head Teacher, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across the organisation
- Ensure high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum development
- Lead safeguarding arrangements for children, young adults and adults at risk, working in line with KCSIE (2025), Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), and the Care Act (2014)
- Drive improvement, culture and quality assurance, securing readiness for Ofsted
- Lead a committed staff team and nurture a values-led learning environment
- Strengthen partnerships with local authorities, mainstream schools, employers and specialist services
- Oversee resource planning, operational systems and long-term organisational sustainability

Who We Are Looking For

- Experienced in alternative provision, SEMH/SEND education, school or FE settings
- Skilled in leading safeguarding for both children and young adults
- Values-driven, relational and committed to trauma-informed practice
- Strategic thinkers able to lead organisational improvement and change
- Confident in curriculum design, workforce development and partnership-building
- Motivated to shape real pathways into employment, training and adulthood
This role requires a leader who is passionate about transforming the life chances of vulnerable learners and who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Safeguarding & Professional Conduct
All staff at Elysium play a vital role in creating a safe, stable and supportive environment.
The Head Teacher must:
- Provide strategic leadership of safeguarding culture
- Uphold compliance with KCSIE 2025, WSCP, WSAB and Prevent
- Model professional boundaries, integrity and safer working practice
- Promote professional curiosity and a culture of high accountability
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
