Job Title: Physiotherapist Responsible to: Director of Care/Medical Director Accountable to: Director of Care Responsible for: N/A PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: This Physiotherapist role is central to delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to patients with life-limiting illnesses at St Davids Hospice. As part of the multidisciplinary clinical team, you will lead therapeutic interventions that empower patients and their families. Your work will directly impact patient outcomes and help shape the future of our rehabilitative services as we continue to grow and expand. DIMENSIONS & LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: The role involves direct supervision of assistant therapy staff and volunteers where appropriate. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to palliative care rehabilitation and healthcare standards. Manage resources efficiently and within the allocated departmental budget for therapy services. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Patient Care & Rehabilitation Assess and manage a clinical caseload of palliative care patients across all Hospice services. Develop and lead patient-focused therapeutic groups aimed at improving physical function and quality of life. Coordinate patient care, providing seamless access to ongoing support for patients, families, and professionals. Conduct holistic needs assessments, planning, and evaluating individualised care and rehabilitation programs. Ensure patients and their families are fully informed about all available rehabilitative services and resources. Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Team Working Collaborate with the wider Allied Health Professionals (AHP) team, including occupational therapy, counselling, and complementary therapies, to provide integrated care. Act as a patient advocate in multidisciplinary meetings, representing the palliative rehabilitation perspective. Liaise with statutory and third-sector OT and physiotherapy services to ensure continuity of care. Education & Service Development Deliver specialist education and training to internal staff, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders involved in palliative rehabilitation. Contribute to the development and promotion of rehabilitative services, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and best practices. Participate in service reviews and quality audits to drive continuous improvement. Leadership & Professional Development Act as a role model, demonstrating high standards of palliative rehabilitative care. Support the professional development of all staff and volunteers within your area of responsibility. Take personal responsibility for your ongoing professional development, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of palliative rehabilitation practices. Quality & Innovation Contribute to the collection and evaluation of service data, providing evidence of productivity, outcomes, and quality. Promote patient feedback and public experience as tools for service innovation and change.
