About the Role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and compassionate tutor with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to support students in Salford. As an SEN tutor, you will deliver tailored lessons to students with a variety of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and those working below expected academic levels. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced tutor to make a real difference in the lives of students who need personalised support.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one tutoring sessions in core subjects (Maths, English, etc.) tailored to the individual learning needs of students with SEN.

Adapt lesson plans, content, and pace to accommodate various learning styles and support emotional regulation where needed.

Provide structured, consistent support to help students build subject knowledge, confidence, and essential study skills.

Build a strong rapport with students to create a safe and nurturing environment that supports academic and emotional development.

Monitor student progress, provide feedback to parents, carers, or professionals involved, and make adjustments to teaching strategies as needed.

Develop personalised learning plans that address both the academic and personal needs of each student.

Essential Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring, with a focus on SEN students.

Experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other complex needs in a one-to-one or small group setting.

Right to work in the UK.

Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Ability to work independently and manage a flexible tutoring schedule.

Desirable Qualifications

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or relevant teaching qualifications.

Experience in supporting students at Key Stage 3 or GCSE level.

Knowledge of effective SEN strategies and resources to support emotional, social, and academic development.

Additional Information

Sessions are typically held during school hours, with some flexibility for after-school or evening sessions depending on student availability.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a meaningful and impactful role, helping students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

Prospero Teaching will provide ongoing support, resources, and regular progress monitoring to help you succeed in your role.
