Summary
This role plays a key part in shaping and delivering patient experience initiatives within the maternity department. You will contribute to the development and implementation of projects and action plans designed to monitor, improve and enhance the experience of women and families using maternity services. The post holder will coordinate and track progress across all patient experience action plans, ensuring momentum is maintained and outcomes are clearly measured. Using established BHT feedback tools, you will evaluate patient experience data and produce insightful reports for the Women’s Directorate, supporting continuous learning and improvement. Close collaboration with Complaints, PALS, Patient Experience teams and other departments will be essential to bring together feedback from multiple sources and strengthen reporting and governance processes.
A strong focus of the role is meaningful engagement with the community, ensuring that information about care and services is accessible, inclusive and easy to understand. This will support service users to make informed choices and provide informed consent, including through close partnership working with translation and interpreting providers.
You will also work closely with the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP), helping to reach diverse community groups and ensuring that the voices and needs of all service users are heard, represented and reflected in the way maternity care is designed and delivered.
• To develop and maintain the directorate’s patient experience plan together with the directorate’s management team.
• To co-ordinate the completion of all patient experience projects within the directorate as per quality improvement plan.
• To present findings of patient experience projects undertaken at identified groups and directorate meetings
• To attend and participate in maternity group board meetings as appropriate.
• Act as a resource to support staff both in the hospital and community setting.
• Contribute to the maternity department’s risk newsletter, sharing feedback on patient experience projects.
• Provide progress information for inclusion to enable the Director of Midwifery to report to the executive team.
• Develop and maintain a relationship with the Maternity Journey Action Group (MJAG) and Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) chair(s).
• To monitor and evaluate standards of care within the team and assist in the implementation of recommendations from government or professional bodies in relation to maternity care
