Digital Forensic Analysts – National Trading Standards eCrime Team and NYtech

The role

Do you work in the field of digital forensics or are you looking to start a career in the field?

If you answered ‘Yes’, we would be pleased to offer you a real opportunity to be involved in digital forensics and online criminal investigations. The successful candidates will join our expanding team and play a vital role, working alongside likeminded colleagues in support of local, regional and national investigations in areas such as fraud, money laundering and other crimes causing serious harm to consumers.

Our Team

North Yorkshire Council is a joint host authority, alongside City of York Council, for the National Trading Standards eCrime Team. This specialist team is responsible for investigating, prosecuting and disrupting high-value online frauds. The Digital Forensics Unit also operates a commercial service, NYtech, which provides digital forensics, onsite warrant assistance and a range of other technical services to customers across the country.

The Role

You will carry out digital forensic examinations and analysis and submit detailed reports, where appropriate. You will provide advice to external officers in the seizure, handling and submission of digital evidence. You will attend and assist in the execution of entry warrants where complex systems are likely to be present, acquiring evidence from stand-alone computers, servers and network devices. You will also give evidence, as necessary, in criminal or civil proceedings.

For more details, please see our Job Description.

What you will bring

This is a career grade role and as such offers opportunities for both new entrants and candidates with experience in digital forensics.

For new entrants at Grade F, whilst a degree is not required it would be advantageous. You will also have a good knowledge of computer hardware and software.

For candidates at Grades I and JK, a relevant degree or appropriate digital forensics training is required, alongside previous experience of working in a digital forensics environment. At the higher grades a sound knowledge of ISO accreditation would also be a distinct advantage.

Working at North Yorkshire Council

In addition to your salary, we offer a range of great benefits to help you financially make life a bit easier.

These include:

a local government, career average employer contribution pension scheme
family friendly leave
salary sacrifice schemes
modern flexible working practices
learning and development packages
career advancement opportunities
employee discount benefits including shopping and gym discounts
green car and cycle schemes
travel loans
