Becoming a lifeguard is a fantastic career option at any stage of life and serves as an excellent starting point for those pursuing a career in leisure. Many of our lifeguards advance to roles such as Fitness Consultants, Swimming Teachers, or Assistant Managers.
An RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or STA Professional Award for Pool Lifeguard (RQF) is mandatory.
The lifeguard role involves a varied number of responsibilities, including ensuring safety in and around the pool, educating swimmers on water safety, providing first aid, and performing rescues during emergencies. Lifeguards in facilities with dry side areas may also be tasked with setting up equipment or assisting at reception. It is essential to adhere to all relevant legislation regarding Health & Safety, Hygiene, First Aid, and Fire Evacuation protocols. Additionally, reporting any potential accidents, hazards, or near-miss incidents to management. As well as supervising the pool, it is a key role to ensure that the poolside, changing rooms, and leisure areas are kept clean and organized.
Please be aware that our part-time lifeguard position includes shifts that involve early morning starts, evenings, and every other weekend.
