Summary
We are looking to recruit an ambitious person who is interested in furthering their career in local government as a Registered Building Control Inspector
Depending on your qualifications and experience, we are looking for either an assistant or building control surveyor to help us to deliver a high-quality Building Control service - if you are pro-active and enthusiastic, then we would welcome your application.
While this is career graded opportunity G6 – G10, which has a number of potential starting points, the salary range for a more experienced officer would be within bands Grade 9 £39,152 to G10 £46,142. We will offer a starting salary to the successful candidate within the grade range that reflects your current skills knowledge and experience. The role offers a full range of local government terms and conditions including flexible working, pension and access to further qualifications and training, continuous professional development and opportunities to gain experience and learning to progress through the registration scheme.
The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate a proven recent track record and have an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Building Control and allied legislation with excellent communication and organisational skills, you will be able to plan and coordinate a wide range of short, medium and long term tasks.
The main responsibilities of the post will be plan vetting and site inspections of building work in relation to all types of buildings within your competency range, enforcement, dangerous structures and demolitions. Good IT skills, accurate record keeping and effective communication skills are essential requirements. A full, clean driving license and use of a car is also necessary for business purposes.
