Summary
About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an interim Principal Social worker to join our established and highly regarded Early Help Service to cover maternity leave starting at the beginning of February 2026.
Do you want to make a positive difference by working in Early Help? We work collaboratively with children, young people, and families, helping them to achieve their goals by intervening and supporting them to build confidence, resilience and the skills that enable them to problem solve and provide positive consistent parenting before problems become entrenched and more difficult to resolve. The Early Help service in Powys is a dynamic, creative, and innovative service which offers the right help at the right time to Powys children, young people, and their families.
About you:
The effectiveness of Early Help is now well researched and established, we know that offering the right help at the right time can make a big difference in supporting families, improving outcomes, and keeping children and young people out of statutory services. Did you know that almost 100% of the families we work with, do not go on to have a statutory assessment within the next 6 months?
We offer a range of informal and formal parenting groups and programmes as well as individual work with families who have more complex and multiple needs to prevent them from needing to have a statutory assessment/ intervention.
What you will do:
The Early Help Teams are consent based and sit underneath the statutory threshold for intervention. You will be complementing our existing experienced management team by providing additional management support and oversight across a range of areas, supervising individual staff and contributing to our strategic development as well as operational management and oversight. You will support the existing management team in our continuous journey to improve and evolve our service and the service we provide to Powys children , young people, and their families
