Are you a compassionate, resilient and motivated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new role? Our partnered SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Hartlepool is seeking a dedicated TA to join their team from January.
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a supportive and forward-thinking SEMH provision that works with pupils who require tailored behavioural, emotional, and educational support. This is a full-time, long-term position, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering personalised learning activities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support emotional regulation
- Use de-escalation strategies and foster positive behaviour
- Support pupils both in the classroom and around the school as needed
Requirements
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
