Your new role

As a Team Leader - Deaf Services, you will oversee the daily operations of specialist services supporting Deaf individuals. You'll lead and develop staff teams, ensure compliance is met, and champion Deaf awareness across all services. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, including occasional frontline work and participation in the on-call rota. You will work closely with external partners and multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding outcomes for the people we support.

  • Oversee the daily operations of Deaf services, ensuring high-quality and culturally appropriate support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with company and regulatory standards.
  • Implement safeguarding policies and report concerns promptly.
  • Work frontline as required, modelling best practice and reinforcing organisational values.
  • Provide real-time coaching and feedback to staff during shifts.
  • Line manage staff teams through supervision, mentoring, and appraisals.
  • Promote Deaf awareness and ensure staff receive training in communication methods (e.g., BSL).
  • Identify and address staff training needs, ensuring mandatory training completion.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and follow up on action points.
  • Support recruitment, induction, and probationary reviews of new staff.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, responding to emergencies and incidents outside standard hours.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to deliver person-centred support.
  • Ensure adherence to medication policies, financial controls, and health & safety requirements.
  • Plan and manage rotas to maintain safe staffing levels and prevent gaps.
  • Monitor and manage staff annual leave, sickness absence, and rota compliance.
  • Oversee financial management for individuals supported by the service.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong leadership and operational management experience in care or supported housing.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to accessible communication (BSL awareness desirable).
  • Ability to manage and develop staff through supervision and performance management.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites and participate in the on-call rota.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards it).
