Summary
The post holder will be responsible for the management and care of women attending the Colposcopy Service. The post-holder will provide oversight of the national screening programme and contribute to quality assurance processes. They will be responsible for the management and development of staff working within the Colposcopy Service, ensuring that the service complies with the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) guideline
The post holder will be based in the specialty of Colposcopy with responsibility to facilitate effective communication links with the multi-disciplinary team. Attendance required at monthly Colposcopy MDT meetings, Quarterly Plymouth and Cornwall Board meetings, South Colposcopy Leads meetings, Colposcopy and Cervical Screening Business Group (Key member) meetings
The post holder will be a highly competent, visible
experienced autonomous practitioner who uses specialist
knowledge and advanced skills to support the Colposcopy
Service. They will be responsible for the co-ordination of all
nursing activities within the Colposcopy Service. They must be
able to facilitate delivery of a quality service and ensure that
resources are effectively and efficiently managed. This
responsibility includes the equipment management, and health
and safety within the Colposcopy areas well as ensuring the
dataentry audits are completed.
The post holder will be able to take a relevant history; perform a holistic physical and mental health examination; undertake clinical assessment to establish a management plan and evaluate the progress of that plan within the limitations of their scope of practice. They will demonstrate advanced clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon evidence-based practice. They will assist the Speciality manager in providing cover for Doctor led clinic
The post-holder will support the Lead Colposcopist ensuring that national standards are adhered to and changes are implemented. That the acquisition and validation of data supports the production to a timescale of quarterly and annual performance information as well as mandatory KC65 returns
