The role is part of the Programme Workforce Planning Team within Rail Services Group (RSG). The primary responsibility of the team is to ensure that we have adequate and capable resource in place to deliver the demands on, and objectives of the Group.

Department for Transport Central - Department for Transport Careers
DfT has recently announced that a number of functions will be transferring from DfT to DfT Operator Limited (DFTO) early next year, as part of the Great British Railways (GBR) programme. This specific role is not currently in scope to transfer.

The Workforce Planning Associate works with the Workforce Planning Manager and manages the workforce demands of RSG. The successful candidate will need to be able to interpret resource requirements and be comfortable working with data and preparing forecasts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The Workforce Associate supports the Workforce Manager in ensuring that all plans are up to date and that the Workforce Planning Team anticipates requirements and opportunities in advance, minimising reactive solutions and enhancing flexible deployment.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
1. Manage the development and maintenance of data records, the delivery of timely MI and both standard and ad hoc reports;
2. Support the Workforce Manager with the continuous review of the Group’s resourcing demands to ensure that they remain aligned to emerging business requirements;
3. Ensure own data is aligned properly to correct cost centres, and position management structures – especially where team and staff changes happen so often;
4. Lead and manage the process of recruiting contingent staff; ensuring internal process controls and liaising with external agencies;
5.Support the Workforce Manager and Lead in implementation of ongoing OD changes;
