Calderdale is seeking to recruit a Rehabilitation Officer (ROVI) for people with a visual impairment to join a small dedicated Sensory Team alongside another Rehabilitation Officer, Coordinator for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and a Communicator Guide.

The Team is part of the Calderdale Adult Social Care Front Door Offer, as part of Community Prevention and Early Intervention. The team sit within the Adults Services and Wellbeing Early Intervention and prevention directorate.

This is a fantastic opportunity and we are looking for candidates who can work with visually impaired individuals in a person-centred way. Candidates must be committed to upholding Human Rights along with the Principles of The Care Act 2014. Candidates should have a positive attitude and will be enthusiastic and innovative in their approach to work. Excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate good practice are a must.

The Rehabilitation Officer role entails holding a caseload of people and working to undertake proportionate strengths-based assessments and design programmes of rehabilitation for those people identified as being in need of support due to the impact that their visual impairment is having on their daily lives. Whilst seeking to promote independence the right candidate will ensure that individuals remain at the heart of their work. They will work to empower vulnerable adults to make choices and decisions about their lives and to maintain autonomy and control. Candidates will be proficient in the use of IT systems, capable of writing reports and able to design programmes of rehabilitation tailored to the individual.

The role requires active contribution to the ongoing development of the Directorate and information to our health colleagues and voluntary agencies. You will receive direct support from a Team Manager and a Team Leader will be provided through regular 1 to 1 supervision. The right candidate will be supported to develop their skills and knowledge with an annual appraisal and frequent training. Induction to the role and service will be provided.

A driving licence is essential for this role as is having access to a car for business use purposes.

A rehabilitation Specialist qualification and registered with RWPN is also essential for this role.
