Contract Type: Temporary (in the first instance)
Salary: Grade 3 Scp 3-5 £12,159 - £12,544 Plus night-time working enhancement.
Hours: Part Time 21 hours per week (10.5 hours per night), to be worked on a Wednesday and Thursday night – hours of work are 10pm – 8.30am (Term time only)
Location of post: Ysgol Hendrefelin Residential Unit - BryncochTo start as soon as possible, the Governing Body of Ysgol Hendrefelin wish to appoint a responsible, caring, reliable person to fulfil the role of a part-time Night Awake Sitter, at the Residential Unit based on our Bryncoch Site. This role is temporary in the first instance with the view of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
The hours for the post are to be worked on a Wednesday & Thursday evening from 10pm to 8.30am, the post is term time only. A night enhancement rate is payable on top of the annual salary, equivalent to a third of the hourly rate, per hour between 8pm and 7am.
Part of this role requires you to register and maintain registration with Social Care Wales for which an annual registration fee is payable. You will also be required to be qualified or willing to study towards an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
Two other members of staff will be sleeping in the unit every night, including a manager / person in charge in the event of an emergency.
As night awake sitter, you will be responsible for:
• Conducting periodic checks throughout the night.
• Dealing with any pupils that may awake throughout the night and be responsible for their safety.
• Maintaining relevant records.
• Doing Laundry
• General housekeeping
The Governors will be seeking the following skills/personal qualities.
• Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to take the initiative to deal with problems as they arise.
• Good interpersonal skills with adults and children.
• Able to remain calm in an emergency.
• Nurturing / caring.
• Empathetic and sensitive to the additional needs of pupils.
The first week of each term is dedicated to Performance Management and Personal Development/training, during these weeks your contracted hours would be expected to be worked during the day.
