Neway International are seeking an Occupational Therapist (Grade J) to join our client, Barnet Council.
Location: 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW
Hours: 7.5 per day, 1–2 days in the office each week plus in‑person meetings every other week
Start Date: 05 January 2026 End Date: ongoing
Pay Rates: £29.06 per hour PAYE / £39.93 per hour Umbrella

The Role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care team. This role focuses on enabling independence and safety through housing adaptations, manual handling assessments, and the provision of equipment. You will play a key part in supporting service users to live safely and independently in their homes.
Key Responsibilities
Complete comprehensive functional assessments in line with the Care Act
Triaging and screening/signposting incoming referrals before acceptance
Design and recommend major adaptations (e.g., level‑access showers, stairlifts, ramps)
Prescribe and arrange minor and major equipment to meet individual needs
Undertake manual handling risk assessments and provide safe moving and handling plans
Liaise with contractors, housing teams, and grants officers for adaptation works
Maintain accurate records and produce professional reports for funding applications and safeguarding processes
Candidate Requirements
HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
Experience in community‑based social care settings
Knowledge of housing adaptations, equipment provision, and manual handling
Familiarity with Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and adaptation legislation
Experience working with contractors and housing teams
Ability to use electronic case management systems
