Crynodeb

This is a one year post commencing on April 1st 2026.

This is a one-year specialist clinical fellowship covering the breadth of upper limb surgery including advanced shoulder arthroscopic surgery, arthroplasty and trauma as well as Elbow elective and trauma practice

This fellowship will include exposure to shoulder instability including, Bankart repair, remplissage, arthroscopic bone block and Latarjet. Rotator cuff surgery will include arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, allograft augmentation, superior capsule reconstruction, and may include salvage procedures such as tendon transfers. Arthroplasty will be predominantly primary arthroplasty with the majority being reverse geometry total shoulders.

There is also ample opportunity to experience upper limb trauma which includes peri-articular trauma and related techniques.

The fellowship is designed to provide the fellow with the necessary supervised and independent experience in order to be ready for an independent consultant practice.

The fellow will be expected to work towards progressive autonomy. In addition to clinical commitments, there is also an expectation for the fellow to work towards the production of one research paper related to upper limb surgery and the research program of the shoulder unit.

The fellow will have the opportunity to attend cadaveric workshops in order to familiarize themselves with the latest implants and techniques relevant to arthroscopic/open shoulder and elbow surgery and arthroplasty.
