Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the North Cornwall Integrated Therapy Team. We are looking for a flexible, reliable person, with leadership qualities who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
The role is based at Bodmin hospital on the Clinical Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU) which is aprogressive short-stay ward with links to the Same Day Emergency Care unit. (SDEC). The aim of the CATU is to provide care in an inpatient setting, conducting comprehensive assessment and treatment for individuals who require short term medical, nursing or therapy intervention.
It is an innovated service that is constantly evolving to adapt to the needs of the community and service users and therefore we require a ‘can do’ attitude and a keenness to learn and develop.
As an integral member of the service, you will be supported in developing clinical skills and integration with the wider MDT. As an education focused team, you will have access to an in-service training programme, clinical and peer supervision, as well as wider learning and development. You'll be involved in service improvement and leadership development. We have strong links with our local university, enabling us to make valuable contributions to fieldwork education.We have a structured model for supervision and appraisal that will support you in developing your clinical and management skills.
We welcome informal visits to come and meet the team.
The post holder will treat patients with complex and varied pathologies and presentations, including a wide range of conditions. Every contact and treatment plan are different, bringing variety and challenge to each working day.
You will be given responsibility for the supervision of other team members and act as deputy for the team manager.
The post is 30 hours per week with working pattern to be agreed at interview.
Seven day working may be a requirement of this post in the future.
You will need excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills to work effectively in this busy environment, providing specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions to inpatients, providing rehabilitation and contributing a specific occupational perspective to planning and facilitating discharge.
The in-patient occupational therapy service has a commitment to service innovation, evidence-based practice and professional development.
You will have regular supervision with the Lead Occupational Therapist.
You will have opportunity to host Occupational Therapy Students from Plymouth university as a practice educator
