About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our special school in Wolverhampton. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an individual with Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification, previous experience in a special school setting, and at least 6 months of experience working in the UK. The successful candidate will work with pupils who have Complex Needs and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our skilled teaching team to provide tailored support to pupils, ensuring their learning and personal development needs are met. You will play a vital role in helping create an inclusive, supportive environment where every pupil is encouraged to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with complex needs and PMLD.
- Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, where required.
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to pupil progress monitoring.
- Help create a positive, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist in delivering differentiated learning activities and classroom management.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure holistic care and learning support.
- Support pupils with communication needs using a variety of techniques, including communication aids and Makaton (if applicable).
Requirements:
- Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- At least 6 months of experience working in the UK in a similar role.
- Previous experience in a special school setting, working with pupils with complex needs and PMLD.
- A strong understanding of the needs of pupils with disabilities and the ability to tailor support accordingly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An enhanced DBS check (we can support you with this if necessary).
