Position:Operational Manager - Supported Living

Reporting to:Head of Complex Care

Contract Type:Permanent, Full Time, 37.5hrs

Salary:£50,000 per annum

Role:

The Supported Living Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of supported living services for adults with complex needs, including mental health, learning disabilities, autism, and/or behaviours of concern. As CQC Registered Manager, the postholder ensures the service operates to the highest regulatory, clinical and quality standards, and leads the development of person-centred support that promotes independence, choice, and wellbeing.

The role requires a clinical qualification (e.g., Nursing, Psychology, ABA, PBS) and strong leadership capability to oversee service delivery, compliance, safeguarding, workforce development, and operational performance across multiple supported living settings.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Service Delivery

-

Provide operational leadership across supported living services, ensuring safe, person-centred and evidence-based support.

Act as the CQC Registered Manager, ensuring full regulatory compliance, effective governance, and successful inspection outcomes.

Develop and implement service models that promote recovery, independence, resilience and positive behaviour.

Ensure services meet contractual and commissioning requirements.

Lead the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), trauma-informed approaches, and/or clinical frameworks based on assessed need.

Quality, Governance & Compliance

-

Ensure compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards, Health & Social Care Act, safeguarding requirements, and other regulatory/legislative frameworks.

Lead internal audit and quality assurance processes, acting on identified areas for improvement.

Ensure health and safety, safeguarding, risk management and incident reporting frameworks are understood and embedded.

Monitor service performance, analysing data and reporting outcomes to Executive Leadership.

Clinical & Behavioural Oversight

-

Provide clinical or behavioural leadership aligned to qualifications and expertise (e.g., Nursing, Psychology, ABA, PBS).

Oversee formulation-led support plans and risk reduction strategies for complex individuals.

Participate in MDT decision-making, working with ICBs, commissioners, clinicians, and specialist teams.

Champion best practice relating to autism, learning disability, mental health and/or behaviours of concern.

Care Planning & Case Oversight

-

Oversee creation, review and quality of support/care plans, risk assessments, and clinical formulations.

-

Ensure safeguarding practices are robust, proactive and well-managed.

Approve and manage complex risk plans, including positive risk taking.

Qualifications and Skills

-

Essential relevant clinical qualification:RMN / RNLD / RGN, or Specialist qualification in ABA/PBS (e.g., BCBA, APBS)

Strong experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and/or behaviours of concern.

-

Demonstrable leadership experience within supported living or similar settings.

-

Experience working within CQC-regulated services.

-

Strong safeguarding and risk-management knowledge.

-

Experience managing multidisciplinary teams.

-

Excellent communication, decision-making and organisational skills.
