Summary
Job Summary:
Responsible for delivering the aims of the charity in accordance with its memorandum and articles of association by:
Providing young people aged 16-24 with information, advice, support and guidance via a range of methods and in a variety of community locations, to include:
a) Face to face support, both one to one (in Xtrax Young People’s Centre, as part of outreach activities and in varying community centres) and through group activities.
b) Telephone support – responding to initial and ongoing queries and as part of ongoing casework.
c) Email and online support, including via Xtrax website and social media platforms
d) Intensive and ongoing support to young people with complex needs, where appropriate.
Work in partnership with outside agencies and ensuring projects run by Xtrax are compatible with the objectives of the charity and follow the relevant procedures such as health and safety and safeguarding et al.
Ensuring that the policies and procedures of the organisation are complied with and that appropriate reporting is taking place.
Key Responsibilities.
• To implement working practices as directed by the Senior Project Co-ordinator.
• Work as part of a team to deliver a range of innovative community outreach and engagement activities.
• Developing and sustaining positive relationships with a range of people, including schools, colleges, local authorities, community leaders, local groups and organisations.
• Working as part of a team by facilitating high quality information gathering/sharing to track the support given and the success of the project.
• Providing a safe and supportive drop-in service at the Hub and any other community based centre.
• To ensure a warm welcome to young people aged 16-24 who choose to access the service.
• To support the Senior Project Co-ordinator in the safe running of the centre and its projects and services.
• To work alongside other staff and volunteers to ensure centre is clean stocked and ready to deliver a quality service to young people.
• To be a point of contact for any feedback or complaints from the young people and volunteers and to ensure that all procedures are adhered to in this respect.
• To comply with all Xtrax policies and procedures, including Health and Safety and Safeguarding.
Young People
• To work with staff and volunteers to provide a warm non-judgemental environment for all young people who use the service.
• To identify services that will both empower and support young people on their journey towards becoming confident and effective young adults.
• To work with and support the young people to facilitate opportunities for them to have their ‘voices and opinions heard’, by Xtrax itself and other services and agencies they may come into contact with, thus enabling positive change in their experiences.
• To work in a supportive and boundaried way around the issues affecting young people.
• To provide a safe environment by ensuring the rules, policies and guidelines of the service are clearly explained and consistently enforced.
• To work on a one to one basis with individual young people including initial assessments, supported referrals and advocacy where appropriate.
General Xtrax Hub Duties
• To support the Senior Project Co-ordinator in achieving staff and volunteer cover appropriate to the activities being undertaken.
• To act as a key holder in order to facilitate access and ensure that the building is secure (after successful completion of probationary period).
Monitoring and Reporting
• Ensure new referrals are received, recorded and passed on in a timely manner.
• To ensure the organisational computerised database is updated with all forms of contact with young people and professionals as set out in Xtrax guidance.
• To participate in monitoring and review processes as directed by the Service Manager.
• To be familiar with the monitoring requirements of projects in order to support the completion of reports and returns.
• To provide Case Studies relating to work completed, for reporting purposes.
Additional areas
• To review performance and professional needs with the Senior Project Co-ordinator on a regular basis and attend training team meetings or support sessions as directed.
• To undertake other duties which fall within the grade and competence of the role as and when required.
• To provide core and out of hours support to young people.
