Summary
Production Controller
Location: (Hanworth / Poole as required)
Pay: £38,000 - £40,000 (DOE)
Working Hours
Monday to Friday- 8am-5pm (no remote working)
Purpose of the Role
The Production Controller ensures the smooth, timely, and efficient movement of all customer orders from the moment they enter the production pipeline to the point they are completed. This includes production planning, scheduling, document preparation, capacity management, communication with all departments, and ensuring deadlines and service levels are met.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Create, update and maintain daily Production Plans for all departments (Cutting, Edging, Drilling, Priming, Shaker Doors).
- Plan Standard, Urgent, Large and Internal Replacement orders according to company SLAs.
- Ensure capacities remain within 100% ± 10% and escalate when thresholds exceed limits.
- Pre-book production slots for large orders when instructed.
- Maintain 5% capacity buffer for Internal Replacement Orders.
- Ensure changes to capacity (staff absence, breakdowns, maintenance) are updated immediately.
Order Control
- Action new orders within SLAs (2-3 hours depending on shift).
- Generate Job Costings and Production Order Forms correctly.
- Allocate orders to correct depot based on hierarchy and workflow.
- Validate cutting minutes vs board allocations and resolve any discrepancies.
- Communicate with head if production when errors or missing information are identified.
- Put orders on hold and notify customers when required.
Communications & Coordination
- Liaise with head of department to ensure smooth production flow.
- Notify Purchase and Stock controller of any material issues, shortages or change requirements.
- Work with Transport Manager for urgent delivery needs or Needed-By-Date negotiation.
- Support with over-capacity, breakdown or overtime requirements.
Internal Quality & Replacement Orders
- Process Panel Report Forms into Internal Recut Orders.
- Prioritise replacements and schedule within next available shift.
- Ensure recut deadlines align with customer SLA.
Documentation & System Usage
- Ensure production documents delivered on time to departments.
- Maintain accurate status updates in the application.
- Verify orders are completed online and physically through departments.
- Tick off orders correctly and ensure full traceability.
Performance Indicators
