The Role:

An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Neighbourhood Services Team at Bolton Council.

You will work within neighbourhoods throughout the borough assisting with all aspects of street cleansing and grounds maintenance. As part of your role, you will work alongside Environmental Enforcement Officers to help maintain a clean and tidy borough and typical duties will include street cleansing duties such as litter picking highways, open spaces and shrubbed area, manual removal of graffiti and fly posting. Grounds maintenance duties such as shrub and flower bed maintenance, strimming and edging off associated grassed areas. Winter gritting, Manual snow and leaf clearance and removal of debris from accidents on the highway and dead animals.

The team is also involved in high profile events and activities hosted within the Borough during the year.

About You:

Neighbourhood Service sits within the Department of Place in the heart of Bolton. The services we provide are an essential service for both the community, businesses and visitors to Bolton. We work with local people to make lasting improvements where they’re most needed and developing Bolton to be a place where people choose to live, work and invest.

We want to make a positive and lasting difference, so it is essential you can work and contribute as part of a team. The ability to accept and understand verbal and written communications whilst communicating effectively with others is key. On occasions you will be working alone, and you will be expected to plan and organise the daily tasks you are given.

As our services covers all of Bolton, having a good directional skill would be an advantage as well as the ability to traverse for long periods of time. You will need to have a good level of numeracy and literacy skills to complete routine documentation.
