Job Opportunity: Catering Manager - Cambridge



Are you a highly experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Catering Manager looking for a pivotal role in a prestigious educational setting?



A leading independent day and boarding school in the heart of Cambridge is seeking an exceptional Catering Manager to oversee and deliver outstanding catering and hospitality services across its three sites. You will lead a team of thirteen staff members and play a crucial role in providing nutritious and high-quality meals for students, staff, and events.



Key Responsibilities:



Culinary Excellence: Develop, review, and deliver varied, seasonal, and nutritional menus , focusing on local produce.


Dietary Management: Meticulously adhere to individual dietary requirements and allergy laws (e.g., preparing for allergies and monitoring food quality).


Team Leadership: Manage, motivate, recruit, and develop a team of thirteen staff members (Chefs and Food Services Assistants) across all sites.


Financial & Operational Control: Implement strong cost control and budgetary management to ensure meals are within the set 'cost per meal' budget. Oversee effective stock ordering and maintain strong supplier relationships.


Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene, COSHH, and HACCP standards.


Hospitality: Deliver high-quality catering and hospitality for all school events, including parent events, fine dining, and meetings.



Essential Requirements:



Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience managing a professional kitchen.


Leadership: Proven experience managing a catering team.


Qualifications: Relevant culinary/cookery qualification and a Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.


Skills: Demonstrated costing, budgetary skills , and menu design & development experience.


Compliance: Awareness of the need to observe child protection safeguards at all times.
