The school
You will be based at a well-regarded SEN provision, in Ilford supporting children with a range of needs including:
• Autism (ASC)
• Developmental delays
• Sensory processing differences
• Fine and gross motor challenges
• SEMH needs and communication difficulties
The school has a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, working closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support.
The Role – Occupational Therapist (Band 5 or 6)
Working one day per week, you will:
• Provide assessments, interventions, and therapy plans for children with diverse occupational needs
• Support pupils with sensory regulation, motor skills, functional skills, and access to learning
• Collaborate with teaching and SEN teams to implement occupational therapy strategies
• Deliver 1:1 and group interventions based on children’s EHCP targets
• Offer guidance and training to staff to help embed OT strategies in the classroom
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to EHCP reviews and multi-agency reports
There is potential for this role to increase to more days from September 2026.
Person Specification
Essential:
• Qualified Occupational Therapist (HCPC registered)
• Band 5 or Band 6 level
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently within a school setting
• Passion for supporting children and young people
Desirable:
• Experience working with children or in an SEN school
• Knowledge of sensory integration and paediatric OT approaches
