About the role
Join Balfour Beatty as a Labourer, working on the iconic Forth Rail Bridge in North Queensferry as part of the UKCS – Scotland team. In this role, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring work is carried out efficiently and safely.
What you'll be doing
Your accountabilities will be as follows:
- Always follow the Balfour Beatty 4 Golden Rules for safety and efficiency.
- Carry out tasks as directed by the Chargehand/Supervisor, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
- Report near misses, hazards, or observations promptly via the hotline and to your supervisor.
- Adhere to company and manufacturer procedures to meet required standards.
- Notify your supervisor of any issues affecting progress, such as breakdowns or damages.
- Complete maintenance and inspection checks, submitting reports on time.
- Keep the depot clean and tidy at all times.
- Participate actively in Daily Activity Briefings and team meetings.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of different processes and equipment.
- Be flexible with overtime and breaks as required.
- Support and collaborate with team members, sharing knowledge and ideas for business improvement.
- Be willing to take on supervisor responsibilities temporarily if needed.
Who we're looking for
We’re seeking candidates with the following essential qualities and experience:
- Strong communication skills, able to engage with all levels including supervisors.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to proactively challenge and be challenged where appropriate.
- Clear understanding of work package plans, method statements, procedures, risk assessments, and site-specific rules (including lift plans).
- Hold a valid HSE CSCS card.
- Multi-skilled (e.g., Traffic Marshall, Manual Handling).
- Relevant manufacturer/supplier training where required.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to lead by example.
