This is a fixed term 12 month post training role within the Children and Young People Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT). The post-holder will work within a CYP mental health service as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service. The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills. The post holder will be expected to attend Northampton University for their teaching with placements available at both Telford and Shrewsbury locations with expectations to travel as part of the role. Upon successful completion of the course, the applicant will be eligible to apply for registration with the BABCP. That the training year can be very demanding, and there will be an expectation of commuting to the University of Northampton That while the University does offer some study days, it is very likely they will need to study outside of their working hours The course begins w/c 26th January 2026 and you must be able to start in service for induction period on 19th January 2026. The assignments include written work such as case studies and reflections, presentations, observed role plays and practice Teaching is 4 days a week for the first 3 months of the course. We then drop down to 3 days, then again to 2 days in the second half of the course. That by taking up a place on this course they will not be eligible for a further NHSE funded course for 2 years There is university support offered including a personal tutor, study skills support and mental health support available Teaching is expected to be a mix of face to face and online Please be aware that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in completing application forms will be monitored to ensure fairness and transparency.
