Summary

Our client, a distinguished educational institution situated in the vibrant area of South Croydon, Greater London, is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-time PMLD Teaching Assistant to join their exceptional team. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for working with students who have Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and will be committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational, social, and emotional development of these exceptional students.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher to develop and implement individualised learning plans tailored to each student's unique needs and abilities
- Provide one-on-one support and guidance to students with PMLD, ensuring their full participation in classroom activities and fostering their independence
- Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials and resources to accommodate the specific requirements of PMLD students
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and support staff, employing a range of strategies, including verbal, non-verbal, and assistive technology
- Monitor and record student progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records to inform future planning and support
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting PMLD students
- Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes learning and well-being
- Assist with personal care needs, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, as required, while maintaining the dignity and respect of the students

Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Education, Special Needs, or a related field
- Prior experience working with children or young people with PMLD or similar complex needs is highly desirable
- Proficient in the use of assistive technology and communication aids
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Empathetic, patient, and resilient, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed
- Satisfactory completion of an enhanced DBS check
