We are looking to appoint an experienced Communication Support Worker to support a child at our nursery who is registered deaf and is using total sign language at home and in nursery.
The ideal candidate
- will have a flexible approach to meeting the individual needs of each child.
- will have a genuine enthusiasm and commitment for working with deaf children.
- will support the excellent provision currently delivered in the nursery
- is highly motivated and would like to be part of our hardworking team.
- has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- has BSL level 3 Communication support for deaf learners.
- is committed to teamwork and maintaining high standards.
- has high expectations for progress and behaviour.
Responsibilities;
- To work as a Communication Support worker as part of the nursery team
- To assist in the provision of a high standard of care for a deaf child placed in the nursery in a way that meets their physical, social, emotional, intellectual and developmental needs.
- To provide outstanding support for children who are deaf who use either British Sign Language (BSL) as their first language or those who require a total communication approach to language which enhances their learning opportunities and achievement through inclusive practice so that they can access and participate in learning, experience a sense of achievement and develop independence.
Summary
As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a vital role in fostering a safe and stimulating environment one of our children who needs additional support and care and in communicating with the child's family.
Working in collaboration with the nursery SENco, the successful applicant will need to professionally liaise with external agencies in order to provide the best care and support.
Your hours will be in line with the hours this child requires care at the setting which is currently 1 day a week on a Friday 8am-6pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)
This is currently a temporary position until September 2027.
