We are looking to recruit a number of Employment Support Officers (ESO’s) to work on established externally funded Employment Support programmes designed to support young people and adults to prepare for and move into work. The projects will deliver high-quality person-centred employment support to a range of people, to include those who are not yet seeking work, those who are and people who are in work or off work due to sickness. Participants may be experiencing barriers including but not limited to – unemployment, homelessness, disability, mental health conditions, over 50’s or living in a rural area.
The successful applicants will have experience of working and engaging with participants to overcome barriers to work utilising tools and working models as well as having a good understanding of issues faced and the current climate. They will be able to facilitate good employer engagement and be able to upskill individuals based on their needs using vocational profiling, action planning etc.
The roles will cover the whole borough, with main bases in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Northwich and Winsford. Some travel will be required for all roles.
Key elements of the support you will provide will include Vocational Profiling and identifying individual support interventions required, which will inform action planning, outlining choices for the future in relation to participation in short, medium- and long-term outcomes for employment. This will include support with CV and Cover Letter writing, job searching, application forms and interviews. You will deliver high quality and impartial Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) to ensure that your customers are able to make informed decisions and are prepared for the next step in their lives.
We are looking for skilled, proactive and flexible individuals who will really make a difference to residents lives, specialising in supporting either young people or adults employment needs, to enable progression in life. You will offer 1-2-1 support across the Cheshire West borough, there will be an element of travel across the borough at times with working in a variety of settings across the area when appropriate, with some home working. The ESO’s delivery model has been designed to work closely with local partners to access education and training as well as employment. The ESO’s work collaboratively with providers to deliver a personalised service to clients based on their individual needs.
The project will run until 31/03/2026 initially with an extension beyond with new funding for Connect to Work.
