A little about myself:
I am an 18-year-old young woman with ASD (no learning disability), selective mutism, epilepsy, and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). I am a full-time wheelchair-user. I am bright, creative, and currently studying photography at college, Monday to Friday.
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support me for up to 10 hours a week. The role would mainly involve accompanying me to social and leisure activities in the evenings after college (maybe 2 evenings a week, but not a Friday due to extra tutoring), and occasionally at weekends (maybe every other Saturday). I am looking for a younger PA who may have the same things in common. I love fitness.
Driver required to take me out.
Female preferred.
Hours of work
Tuesday – After 12pm (4 hours)
Friday – After 3pm (4 hours)
Saturday – 2 hours
Rate of pay
£13.13
Essential
I need you to:
• Be a driver with access to a car (as I cannot drive due to seizures).
Desirable
I’d prefer if:
• You are friendly, reliable, and supportive, with an understanding of my medical needs;
• You can encourage my independence, whilst ensuring my safety.
I’d like support with:
• Going to the cinema, theatre, bowling, shopping, or out for food;
• Walks in my wheelchair, often combined with photography;
• Spending time with animals (I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a bird, and I especially love horses);
• Arts and crafts;
• Meeting friends independently from my parents.
I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality;
Be confident, mature and have patience;
Be dependable and arrive on time;
Be friendly with an easy-going manner;
Be adaptable and flexible;
Be supportive but not take over;
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.
Concerning the position
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
