Crynodeb
We are seeking an Investigating Officer to join our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, playing a vital role in uncovering the circumstances behind fatal and life-changing road collisions across Lincolnshire. This challenging and rewarding position involves attending collision scenes, managing complex investigations, and providing answers for victims, families, and the wider community. You will work in accordance with the Code of Ethics and uphold our core values of Courage, Openness, Fairness and Inclusivity.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will conduct thorough investigations into serious and fatal collisions, including attending scenes, interviewing witnesses and suspects, securing and reviewing evidence, and maintaining the integrity of all exhibits. Your responsibilities will also include completing prosecution and coronial files, undertaking case management tasks, gathering CCTV and house-to-house enquiries, attending post-mortem examinations, and ensuring all work complies with CPIA, health and safety requirements, and safeguarding responsibilities. You will keep victims, families, and key stakeholders updated in line with the Victims Code, and proactively identify road safety issues where they arise.
Why This Role Matters
Your work will directly support families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, helping them understand how and why a collision occurred. By ensuring investigations are thorough, ethical, and professionally managed, you will contribute to the pursuit of justice, improve public safety, and help prevent future harm on Lincolnshire’s roads.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone resilient, compassionate, and detail-focused, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive investigations from start to finish. You will be trained to PIP2 investigation standard (or be willing to undertake this training) and committed to delivering the highest professional standards. A strong understanding of investigative processes, evidence handling, safeguarding responsibilities, and ethical policing is essential.
Please note this role works on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern and flexibility will be required.
