Carer Companion Housekeeper: Days and Nights
About
We are looking to expand our team of carers for Katie, 70 year old woman, (former doctor) semi paralysed following brain haemorrhage (in 1991). Katie is a wheelchair user; we’ve adapted to ground floor living in the past 18 months.
Katie retains all her mental abilities but has poor(ish) short term memory.
The house is a welcoming and friendly environment and we are looking for laid back but vigilant carers to provide assistance and companionship to Katie.
We currently have a care team who cover 7 days a week working 9-2pm
We are looking for someone to ideally do two 5 hour shifts across a week.
DAYS
Duties include helping Katie up, showering her dressing, helping with transfers to wheelchairs (you need to be relatively strong to assist on this), preparing lunch, washing clothes, ironing ..general household management and companionship.
There may be an opportunity to pick up other shifts including evening and possibly some overnight stays should the need arise.
Pay £16 an hour
Location Saltaire—off Moorhead Lane.
Person spec.
Essential: Trustworthy, responsible, reliable adult with good sense of humour.
Physically fit and able to assist with transfers.
Desirable –Car driver
Able to cook simple meals.
Interest in gardening.
Ideally previous care experience
Trial Period for first few days/weeks.
Full training provided.
