Crynodeb
The Acute Medical Unit is a 51 bedded acute medical unit with high levels of acuity.
Same Day Emergency Care see approximately 50-60 patients a day and operates 7 days a week
The Acute Assessment Unit currently has 7 trollies and treats patients from direct referral to admission or discharge home.
There are 130 staff across all areas. Due to the acuity and high patient admission and discharge rate, training and support for new staff is essential.
The Practice Development Nurse is pivotal in AMU and SDEC for safe patients care and a strong support network for the staff and students working within the environment. We are looking for a calm, supportive person with excellent clinical skills for this role. We have a high number of students and work very closely with the CCCU to ensure that they receive the best experience on the Units. As a result, we welcome many newly qualified staff. and support them through their supernumerary and induction period. The PDN liaises with the Unit Managers for all three areas to ensure a good, robust training plan for all staff.
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
