Summary
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Sessional English Teacher to provide targeted support to our Year 11 learners as they prepare for their GCSE English Language and/or Literature examinations. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in small groups to help pupils build confidence, strengthen key skills, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, well-structured sessions focused on GCSE English Language and/or English Literature.
Provide tailored support to students who require additional help in reading, writing, analysis, or exam technique.
Assess learners’ strengths and areas for improvement and adapt teaching accordingly.
Plan and deliver intervention lessons in line with exam board specifications (AQA, Edexcel, or relevant board).
Provide regular feedback to students and communicate progress to the English department.
Support the ReflecTeen’s commitment to raising achievement and closing attainment gaps.
Contribute to a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and resilience.
Person Specification
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
Strong subject knowledge in GCSE English Language and Literature.
Experience teaching KS4 students and preparing them for GCSE exams.
Ability to differentiate learning to meet a range of needs and abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills and reliability, particularly in delivering scheduled intervention sessions.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable
Experience delivering small-group interventions or tutoring.
Up-to-date knowledge of exam board requirements.
Experience working with students with SEND or EAL.
