An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Consultant Clinical Scientist to join our Radiation Safety and Diagnostic Radiology Physics team. The successful candidate will be an experienced scientist working at consultant level with extensive RPA, RWA and MPE experience in radiation physics and an interest in providing scientific leadership and strategic development for the radiation physics team in a very rewarding senior position. The Radiation Safety group is a friendly and dedicated team who work hard to engage with staff throughout the organisation to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors to the Trust. The team are involved with all aspects of the equipment life cycle of 250 items of imaging equipment over multiple sites in addition to delivering a comprehensive audit schedule. There is a strong commitment to innovation, research and development.

The Radiation Safety Section is based at the Royal London Hospital. You will be expected to work on all Trust and client sites.
The postholder will work at the top level of professional expertise to manage the implementation and audit of legislation, codes of practice and other relevant guidance in radiation safety. They will be part of the senior leadership team in the Radiation Safety Section, leading on the Trust-wide delivery of comprehensive scientific and technical support services that includes radiation protection advice, quality assurance for all x-ray imaging equipment, a personal dosimetry service for the assessment of x-ray dose to staff, radiation safety surveys and a consultation service for scientific support relating to x-ray imaging.
The postholder will be appointed as RWA, RPA and MPE for the Trust and provide expert advice to hospital managers, clinicians, other staff groups and patients in the Trust and other specified organisations.
