Learning Support Assistant – Waltham Forest
Full-Time | £95–£115 per day | Immediate Start
We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in the Waltham Forest area. This role is ideal for someone with previous experience supporting young people with additional needs, who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils across KS3–KS4 — both in class and through targeted intervention work. You will work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and pastoral team to promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide in-class support for students with a range of learning and SEN needs
• Deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions to raise attainment and confidence
• Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing support
• Help prepare lesson resources and adapt materials where necessary
• Maintain accurate notes on progress and safeguarding concerns
• Support with transitions, movement around school, and supervision duties
Requirements
• Previous school-based experience (SEN support preferred)
• Confident in supporting students with diverse needs and abilities
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A calm, patient, and proactive approach
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
This is a brilliant opportunity to gain further experience in a supportive, well-resourced secondary setting — perfect for individuals exploring long-term careers in education, psychology, youth work or SEN pathways.
If you are interested and available, please apply today. Interviews and trial days will be arranged promptly for suitable candidates.
