Key Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Duties (as trained and competency-assessed) Undertake clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, height, weight, and BMI. Perform venepuncture (phlebotomy). Conduct ECGs. Perform urinalysis and other point-of-care tests. Carry out NHS Health Checks / Well-being Checks where applicable. Administer influenza and other vaccines if appropriately trained and authorised (in line with NHS Wales/PHW guidance). Undertake wound care, simple dressings, and removal of sutures/clips. Assist in chronic disease management (e.g., COPD reviews, asthma assessments, diabetic foot checks) within agreed protocols. Support cervical screening administration (not the smear test itself). Prepare, clean, and restock clinical and treatment rooms. Carry out infection prevention and control tasks according to NHS Wales standards. Carry out and complete Waste Management Audit. Support GP in room and consent preparation for Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) service Patient Support & Communication Provide patients with lifestyle advice (weight, smoking cessation, physical activity) under approved protocols. Offer clear information and reassurance to patients and carers. Support vulnerable patients and those with additional needs in accessing care. Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times. Administrative Responsibilities Accurately record all clinical data onto the clinical system (e.g., EMIS/WIS/Clinical systems used in Wales). Assist with recall systems for chronic disease reviews, vaccinations, and NHS Wales campaigns. Manage stock levels, including clinical consumables and PPE. Follow practice protocols, policies, and safeguarding procedures. Professional Responsibilities Work within competency-based boundaries and seek support when needed. Participate in mandatory training (e.g., safeguarding, infection control, basic life support). Attend team meetings and contribute to service improvement. Maintain up-to-date knowledge in accordance with NHS Wales and Public Health Wales guidance. Actively participate in appraisal and personal development reviews.
