Job Title: Post CCT Fellow in Paediatric Gastroenterology Grade: ST8+ Specialty/Department: Paediatric gastroenterology Site and Location: Clarendon Wing, LGI INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team involved in running a regional Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition service and provide tertiary care to North and West Yorkshire. The department provides expertise in the management of Inflammatory Bowel disease (IBD) (looking after more than 350 patients), intestinal failure (IF) (being one of the first established IF centres in the country, looking after 24 home PN patients), enteral tube fed patients (around 2000 patients), chronic constipation and dysmotility, functional GI disorders, eosinophilic GI disorders and GI problems in children with neurodisability. We provide onsite GI consultant assessments for a broad range of paediatric subspecialties (Hepatology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Neonatology, Paediatric Surgery, Oncology, PICU etc.). The ward has 16 beds shared between Gastroenterology and general paediatrics. There are subspecialty clinics in inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, coeliac disease, dysmotility, general gastroenterology and transition clinics for IBD and IF. There are weekly IBD, IF, gastro-surgical and radiology MDTs and fortnightly a histology MDT. Weekly teaching sessions from all the members of the MDT including dieticians, CNS, pharmacist and consultants are offered. The successful applicant will have access to endoscopy training with the possibility to obtain the Jag Jets certificate for upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy. There are opportunities to engage in local and multicentre research projects and audits. The team is supported by 5 experienced Nutrition nurses (3 for Home PN and 2 for enteral), 3 experienced IBD CNS, 2 MDT Co-ordinators (one for IBD and one for Nutrition), 3 experienced dietitians, one consultant PN pharmacist and one Band 7 pharmacist, 2 Gastroenterology Psychologists, 1 Gastroenterology Social Worker and 3 bowel nurse specialists.
