At TeacherActive we are working with a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, who is seeking a compassionate and proactive Mentor to support students with mental health difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and help them build resilience, confidence, and emotional well-being.
About the role:
As a Mentor, you will work closely with students experiencing mental health challenges, providing one-to-one support, guidance, and encouragement. Your role will involve building trusting relationships, promoting positive coping strategies, and helping students develop essential skills to navigate their daily lives and learning environments.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide individual mentoring sessions to support mental health and well-being
• Build trusting relationships to encourage confidence and resilience
• Support students in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, wellbeing teams, and external agencies
• Assist in the implementation of personalized support plans
• Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all students
Ideal candidate:
• Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with mental health difficulties
• Compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach
• Excellent communication and active listening skills
• Knowledge of mental health issues and strategies to support emotional well-being
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Enthusiastic about empowering young people to reach their full potential
