We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse onMulberry 1. Mulberry 1 is a 14-beddedacute assessment mental health wardfor adults aged 18–65 years.
As part of our commitment to high-quality care, Mulberry 1 provides rapid assessment and short-term support for individuals experiencing acute mental health needs. The ward plays a vital role in stabilising patients and planning their next steps in treatment and recovery.
Our team is passionate about staff development. You will receive comprehensive training to build the core skills required for this role, and we actively support access to further learning and professional growth opportunities.
• The wards bold model requires staff to have a commitment to teamwork, a sense of accountability, and an ability to work well under pressure when required.
• If you are successful, we will support you in providing quality evidence-based nursing care for our service users with mental and physical health needs. As a staff nurse you will interact frequently with carers and families providing support and advice where appropriate.
• You will be working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and will be responsible for supporting and leading on the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care on a rotational shift basis. We will expect you to have a good level of knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.
• We will expect you to identify and contribute to the training needs of junior registered and unregistered staff and ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.

• To carry out a full range of registered nurse duties, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s condition and care with support from the nurse in charge.
• To establish therapeutic relationships with service users, and the implementation of evidence based therapeutic interventions with appropriate boundaries in accordance with NMC professional code of conduct.
• To understand NICE quality standards and guidance relevant to area of practice and patient group.
• To prioritise nursing care, recognise deterioration in a patient’s condition and alert senior staff immediately.
• Participate in the health education and explanation of treatment to patients and relatives.
• Maintain a safe environment when caring for patients, including those requiring enhanced levels of monitoring.
• To promote involvement of service users, carers, and relatives within the service and for its provision.
• To ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2007 are observed, adhered to, and implemented.
• To escort patients in line with Trust Policy.
• To promote service user and carer involvement within the service and for its provision.
• To provide holistic care that incorporates excellence in physical health care management.
