USW Library Services provides services and resource collections to support the teaching, learning and research activities of the University, with a strong focus on a positive user experience and continuous service improvement. USW Library Services operates four libraries across multiple locations in South Wales, it has a large digital offering and responsibility for Oriel y Bont, the USW gallery and its artworks collection.
We are looking for a skilled individual to manage and develop library spaces, resources and user services in all USW locations, ensuring that they meet the diverse needs of our stakeholders through on-going engagement, co-design and User Experience (UX) activities. You will work collaboratively with the wider Library Management team, Faculties, other University departments and the Student Union to ensure that our spaces are safe, accessible and inclusive, and that services are student-centred, meet academic needs, promote wellbeing and support the University’s civic mission.
The Library Operations and Engagement Manager is also responsible for the line management of the USW Curator: Oriel Y Bont, USW Museum Art Collection and Archives. In this capacity you will support the work of the curator, providing leadership for the development of the gallery and its exhibitions, and the management and preservation of the University’s artworks collection.
This is a varied role that will suit an inclusive, creative, and initiative-taking manager. It is a role that will give you opportunities to utilise your organisational and interpersonal skills to help deliver high quality services for students, members of the public and the wider community.
The post is full time and permanent. The nature of the post is such that the post-holder is expected to work flexibly: some remote work will be possible but, as this post is responsible for on-campus facilities and resources, it is expected that the post-holder will spend most of their time on site. It is based at Pontypridd with regular travel to other campuses required.
For an informal conversation about this post please contact Lynne Evans, Associate Director: Head of Library Services e-mail: lynne.evans2@southwales.ac.uk
